ISHS Acta Horticulturae 398: Postharvest Physiology of Fruits

REGULATION OF POSTHARVEST FRUIT PHYSIOLOGY BY CALCIUM

Authors:   I.B. Ferguson, R.K. Volz, F.R. Harker, C.B. Watkins, P.L. Brookfield
Keywords:   Calcium, apple fruit, fruit ripening, fruit growth
Abstract:
Calcium contents of many fruits have been related to quality of fruit in storage. There are many ways of increasing calcium concentrations in fruit, both preharvest with fruit on the tree, and using postharvest treatments. Both the accumulation of calcium in developing fruit and the physiology of calcium in ripening fruit tissues will be reviewed.
