Abstract:
The objective of the present experiment was to analyze the effect of 'forced ventilation', 'natural ventilation' and 'no-ventilation' on quality embryo quantity.
Cultures were fractioned into three fractions; Large (>950 μm), Medium (950–435 μm) and Small (<435 μm), of which Large fraction consisted of cotyledonary embryos, Medium fraction consisted of torpedo stage embryos whereas the Small fraction consisted of the early embryo stages.
In first two fractions, 'competent', 'aberrant' and 'proliferated' embryos and 'total embryo' amounts were counted.
'Total embryo' count of Medium fraction was decreased by both ventilation systems in which 'forced ventilation' resulted in the lowest. 'Competent embryo' count of the Medium fraction was declined with 'forced ventilation' (172.2 embryos/2 ml) while 'natural ventilation' and 'no-ventilation' resulted in almost similar amounts (220.6 and 230.5 embryos/2 ml, respectively).
