ISHS Acta Horticulturae 390: Internat. Symposium on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants

THE RESPONSE OF DRACOCEPHALUM MOLDAVICA PLANT TO NITROGEN FERTILISATION AND PLANTING DENSITY

Authors:   S. El-Gengaihi, H. Wahba
Keywords:   Dragonhead plant, fertilization, spacing, volatile oil constituents
Abstract:
Wider spacing favoured growth parameters of dragonhead plants. More yield and higher volatile oil content was obtained by using nitrogen fertilisation at a dose of 100kg feddan (4200m2). Volatile oil was composed mainly of acyclic oxygenated monoterpenes which made up 93% of the oil. The oil content of the flowers was double that of the leaves.
