Authors:   K.P. Svoboda, S.G. Deans
Keywords:   Essential oils, antibacterial activities, antifungal activities, antioxidative activities, antifeedant properties
Abstract:
The research into aromatic and medicinal plants started in 1983, and has since developed into a major program with a number of distinct topics, including physiological and phytochemical studies of selected plant species, genetic and breeding studies, tissue culture, transformed root/shoot culture and biological activities of volatile oils (Collins et al., 1994). These activities include antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anticancer and antioxidant properties which can be applied in the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and agricultural industries (Deans, 1994).
