Abstract:
The effects of nitrogen, phosphate and cell immobilization on growth and taxol production were investigated using cell culture of Taxus cuspidata. The ratio of nitrate to ammonium was found to be an important parameter.
Reducing nitrogen or phosphate concentration retarded cell growth, but improved taxol formation noticeably.
Our findings also confirmed that cell immobilization in Ca-alginate beads increased taxol formation.
