Abstract:
The resistance of different Vitis spp materials to Fusarium wilt incited by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. herbemontis in natural infected field in 1989/90 and under controlled conditions during 1990/91 growing seasons was evaluated.
Resistance among rootstock cultivars was variable, hybrids of V. riparia x V. berlandieri (SO4, 5A, Kober 5BB, 420A, 161 - 49, 240 Ru, Solferino) and V. riparia x V. rupestri (101 - 14, 3309, Schwarzmann) were susceptible to this soil born disease.
Hybrids of V. berlandieri x V. rupestris (Paulsen 1103, R99 and R110) presented an intermediary resistance.
Rootstocks of the two first groups were the most common material planted in this region.
Today Paulsen 1103 is the best option to be used.
Other material as cv.
Isabella and some V. vinifera x V. rotundifolia hybrids were resistant to this fungus.
