ISHS Acta Horticulturae 388: International Symposium on Viticulture and Enology

SIXTEEN YEARS OF MONITORING THE CULTIVAR XAREL.LO (VITIS VINIFERA L.) ON SEVERAL ROOTSTOCKS.

Abstract:
The study summarizes data from sixteen years: 1975–1991 experimentation of the cultivar Xarel.lo (Vitis vinifera L.) on six rootstocks: 110 R, 140 Ru, 1103 P, 161–49 C, SO4, 41 B, using a randomized design in a plot in the Penedés Region (V.Q.P.R.D.). SO4 had the hightest yields, potential alcoholic grade and quick entry on production, followed by 41 B and 110 R. The 41 B rootstock showed the lowest relationship glucose/fructose and the lowest pH. On the other hand 110 R showed the lowest levels of tartaric and citric acid.

Among the intermediate rootstock data: 1103 P and 161–49 C, the late has the quickest entry on production and ripening period whereas 1103 P shows higher vigour and potential alcoholic grade, but less titratable acidity.

The 140 Ru shows the highest vigour and least yield, potential alcoholic grade, weight per grape, and fertility index as well as the highest delay in ripening.
