Abstract:
We studied the influence of ensilage with various doses of sodium hydroxide (0, 1, 3, 5 and 7% dry weight) on the nutritional value and in vitro digestibility of the three main fractions of "Pedro Ximénez" V. vinifera grape marc, viz. seeds, rafle and pulp.
According to the results obtained, the higher the NaOH concentration used was, the more adverse was the effect on the nutritional value of the product.
Also, grape seed was found to be the least nutritive of the three fractions, whereas grape pulp was the most readily digestible in vitro.
