A GREENHOUSE TEST FOR CHARACTERIZING PPV-STRAINS |

| Abstract:
In a greenhouse test double grafting with the hypersensitive hybrid K4 enabled to clearly identify D- and M-strains of PPV on the basis of symptom expression and the recorded virus concentration. M-isolates (including EL Amar) responded by developing shoot tip necrosis. There were no symptoms on the other leaves, and ELISA test did not reveal any virus presence. D-isolates, however, developed in addition to shoot tip necrosis chlorotic and/or necrotic symptoms on the leaves. In all symptomatic leaves the serological analyses revealed virus infection. | |
