THE OCCURRENCE OF NEPOVIRUSES ON RASPBERRIES AND BLACKBERRIES IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC. |

| Abstract:
The occurrence of arabis mosaic virus (AMV), raspberry ringspot virus (RRV), tomato black ring virus (TBRV) and strawberry latent ringspot virus (SLRV) has been studied in the Czech Republic in 1993. Fifty-six samples of cultivated and 85 samples of wild raspberries, as well as 10 samples of wild blackberries from 17 localities were tested by DAS ELISA. Twenty-eight (18.7%) of 150 samples were found to be infected at least with one nepovirus, five of them were infected with mixed infection of two nepoviruses. AMV isolate M 20 and TBRV isolate ML 15 were successfully transmitted by mechanical inoculation and characterized by reaction of differential host plants and by electron microscopy. The results represent the first evidence on the occurrence of AMV, RRV, TBRV and SLRV in cultivated raspberries and first evidence of RRV on raspberries and blackberries in the Czech Republic. Isolates of TBRV and AMV are the first being isolated and characterized from raspberries from this territory. | |
