SUSCEPTIBILITY OF CERTAIN APRICOT-TREE VARIETIES TO THE PLUM-POX VIRUS PATHOGENIC ACTION

Authors:   V. Balan, E. Stoian
Keywords:   Apricot, Plum-pox researting, cultivars, index of susceptibility, parents
Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine the degree of Plum-Pox virus (PPV) susceptibility of different cultivars, and to select the resistant ones, as parents in genetic breeding in order to study if it is possible to transmit the resistance to the descendants.

Of the fifty eight apricot cultivars which were examined for their susceptibility to plum - pox virus (PPV) infection, in the field of the Research Station for Fruit Tree Growing "Baneasa" - Bucharest, only Stella, seems to be resistant to Sharka because the susceptibility index was 0 after 16 years from its planting.

The cultivars Manitoba, Kinred, NJA 19,NJA 48,NJA 53,NJA 56,NJA 59 and Sony have susceptibility index 0 after 9 and 7 years from planting.
