ISHS Acta Horticulturae 384: X International Symposium on Apricot Culture

PATHOGENIC ORGANISMS AS CAUSES OF APRICOT DECLINE

Author:   G. MORVAN
Abstract:
Apricot decline remains an important threat to the apricot industry. Several pathogens: fungi, bacteria, viruses and mycoplasma are able to destroy the trees after several years of good growth. According to culture areas, particular diseases are prevalent. A visual diagnostis is possible. It requires special training. No curative methods are available. The possibility of quarantine measures and of ways to limit conservation of the pathogens and their entrance into the trees, as well as prospects of genetical resistance, effects of environmental and cultural factors are briefly reviewed for the different pathogens.
