Abstract:
The effect of the following interstocks: Cacanska Lepotica, St. Julien, Cacanski Secer, Wangenheims, Green Gage and Kohlstockzwetsche, on the vitality and cropping of eight apricot cultivars, viz. Hungarian Best, Melitopol'skaya Rannyaya, Frühmarille aus Kittsee (F. Kittsee), Nugget, Czegledi Bibor, Cacansko Zlato and K'sna Dryanovska, has been studied. Interstocks were grafted on the rootstock of Myrobalan seedling (P. cerasifera Ehrh.) and on them were grafted apricot cultivars, at a height of 1m.

After seven years, the best average results were obtained from apricots grafted on Green Gage (56.80% survived), and the worst, from cultivars grafted on St. Julien (37.50% survived). When the cultivars were studied separately on all rootstocks, F. Kittsee showed the best vitality (69.60 % trees alive) and K'sna Dryanovska showed the worst (33.30%).

When cropping was concerned, the highest yields were on Cacanska Lepotica interstock (33.10kg/tree) and the lowest were on Kohlstockzwetsche (23.20kg/tree). The yields varied with cultivars, ranging from 39.6kg/tree of F. Kittsee to 21.1kg/tree of Nugget and K'sna Dryanovska.
