ISHS Acta Horticulturae 384: X International Symposium on Apricot Culture

APTITUDE OF SEVERAL GENITORS TO TRANSMIT CHEMICAL FRUIT TRAITS IN APRICOT BREEDING PROGRAM

Authors:   V. Balan, A. Ivascu, E. Popa
Keywords:   Apricot, breeding, genitors, descendants, chemical fruit traits
Abstract:
The genetic studies of some biochemical characteristics were started in the Research Station Baneasa Bucharest in 1984 with 2,250 apricot progeny resulted from 67 hybrid combinations and 35 genitors, in a controlled experimental field.

The heredity of the components, namely transgressive type, of dry substance, sugar(28,4 %), vitamin C(26,53mg/100g)has helped in exceeding the quality levels of the genitors: Excelsior, Goldrich, Comandor, Don Gaetano, Early Orange, Mektep, Litoral, 77.3.52 BV.

The positive in-line phenotype correlation between the content in dry substance and overall sugar and the positive off-line correlation between the content in dry substance.
