NUMERICAL COMPARISON OF THE FLOWERING OF APRICOT (PRUNUS ARMENIACA LAM.) VARIETIES IN HUNGARY |

| Abstract:
Based on the flowering phenological study of apricot (Armeniaca vulgaris Lam.; Syn: Prunus armeniaca L.), it can be stated that the index of flowering (Index-V) can be applied in the analysis of the flowering process. The new, numerical expression of the various stages of flowering, allows for the characterization of the period of mass-flowering (range between Index-V values -0.25 and + 0.25), which in each of the three experimental years seemed to be limited to max. 7 days. As during this relatively short period the conditions are not always favourable for optimal pollination, the importance of variety choice should be emphasized. | |
