Abstract:
Frost resistance of flower buds of Salak and Tebereze apricot cultivars was maximum in January and February, during the first year and second year respectively.
In November and March, the frost resistance was found to be low.
Moreover cv.
Salak was more resistant than cv.
Tebereze.
Total sugar and saccharose contents increased gradually in both cultivars until January and February during the first and second year respectively, and their levels declined in march.
Starch contents were found to be high in November and March but low in mid-winter.
The changes in the amount, of reducing sugar was, however, inconsistent.
Positive correlations were found between the changes in total sugar and saccharose but negative between starch and saccharose contents.
Furthermore, frost resistance correlated positively with in saccharose content but negatively in starch content in cv.Salak in both years.
