DETERMINING THE CHILL UNITS OF ADANA AND CHILLING REQUIREMENTS OF APRICOTS

Authors:   A.B. Küden, N. Kaska, S. Paydas
Abstract:
The experiment was carried out to determine the chill units of Adana and the chilling requirements of some apricot cultivars. Richardson unit was used to calculate the chilling requirements of the cultivars.

The winter chilling hours (below 7°C) and chill units of Adana (latitude 36° 59' N, 35° 59' E, altitude 25 m) were obtained. The lowest chilling requiring cultivar was found as Priana (250 hours and 200 Richardson units) while Screara was found as the highest (550 hours and 500 Richardson units) chilling requiring cultivar.
