TABLE APRICOT CULTURE IN MUT (TURKEY)

Abstract:
Mut is one of the most important table apricot growing towns in Turkey. Mut is situated on the southern slopes of the Taurus Mountains in the Eastern Mediterranean region. The altitude ranges from 200m. to 600m. In fact, apricots have been cultivated there for quite a long time. The cultivars are Tokaloglu, Septik, Karacabey, Sam and Sekerpare. There are more than 240,00 mature apricot trees in this area and the total yield in 1992 was approximately 30,000 tons.
