AGRELAN: A SOFTWARE TO OPTIMIZE FERTILIZATION

Authors:   P. Giandon, A. Consalter
Keywords:   software, fertilization recommendation, soil analyses
Abstract:
In the Veneto Region of Italy the application of fertilizer is often in excess of plant nutrient uptake. For this reason a software was developed to give fertilizer recommendations, based on soil analysis, to farmers.

To verify the level of fertilization in an area of Veneto Region, informations about the amount of N, P and K used by 68 farmers were collected and compared with the amount of N, P and K suggested by Agrelan for vineyards and orchards (apple, pear and peach).

Fertilization rates for P and K were very similar to rates recommended by Agrelan, while N fertilization was about 50% lower than that suggested, with no influence on production.

Agrelan seems to be a good mean to give quick and sure informations about fruit orchards fertilization with P and K on the basis of soil analysis; reductions in reccommendation for N fertilizations will be introduced.
