Abstract:
Investigation has been carried out to determine the criteria of early diagnostics of the apple rootstock and stock-scion response to nitrogen nutrition.
The peculiarities of adsorption and nitrogen assimilation by apple plants connected with the intensity of growth processes were determined under the conditions of vegetative and field trials.
The lower the rootstock or stock-scion vigour, the higher their demand for mineral nutrition.
This phenomenon is caused by a weaker gibberellin biosynthesis and an increment of the nitrate-reductase activity in apple trees that do not grow vigourously.
The intensity of plant growth processes is one of the criteria of early diagnostics of apple rootstock and stock-scion response to nitrogen nutrition.
Judging by the evaluation results it is possible to find grafting combinations of the apple tree that are able to actively use nitrogen.
