ISHS Acta Horticulturae 382: IV International Symposium on Soil and Substrate Infestation and Disinfestation

CONCLUDING REMARKS OF THE 'SOIL AND SUBSTRATE INFESTATION AND DISINFESTATION SYMPOSIUM'

Authors:   E. Van Wambeke, K.U. Leuven
Abstract:
Phytopathological problems and control measures changed over the years according to the shift of the less or more naturally buffered soil growing medium to less buffered growing substrates and nearly unbuffered hydroponics. In the latter and ultimate case, growing medium linked disease spread is very obvious and no mistakes are allowed. One could ask himself whether the circle of growing medium change will not become closed by coming back to soil culture, also for economical reasons.
