EFFECT OF VOLATILE SUBSTANCES RELEASED FROM OLIVE TREE LEAVE COMPOST ON THE VEGETATIVE GROWTH OF RHIZOCTONIA SOLANI AND FUSARIUM OXYSPORUM F.SP. LYCOPERSICI* |

| Abstract:
The effect of volatile substances from olive tree leave compost, as well as from soil and mixture of them 1:1 per dry weight, on the vegetative growth of Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici was studied by measuring the hyphal length. Volatile substances were fixed by AgNO3 solution 1 % or H3BO3 solution 5 %. It was found that both of fungi hyphae were longer when AgNO3 solution was used for fixation of volatile substances than without fixation. The differences were statistically significant in classification according to Duncan's multiple range test, in all cases for compost. It is therefore indicated that total volatile substances from olive tree leave compost that can be fixed by AgNO3 solution (NH3 and unsaturated hydrocarbons, etc.) inhibit the vegetative growth of Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici. | |
