Abstract:
Using TLC, the content of phenolic acids in Verturia inaequalis resistant Liberty and Prima apple varieties and Venturia inaequalis susceptible Golden Delicious, Gloster and Cooper-4 varieties has been researched.
The existence of specific ester- and glycosidically linked acids only in leaves and bark from scab-resistant varieties at certain moments in the yearly cycle of development gives a reason to suggest that these could be used as markers of scab-resistance.
