Abstract:
The accumulation of the flavanone prunin (naringenin-7-glucoside) indicates an incompatibility of interspecific (P.avium/P. cerasus) graftings just in an early stage.
Effects of nutrient deficiency were investigated in a callus model system with the sweet cherry cultivars ‘Sam’ and ‘Hedelfinger’ which show different compatibility with Prunus cerasus rootstocks.
Fe- and Ca-deficiency lead to an accumulation of the flavanone in the tissue and enhance permeability of the plasma membranes.
The efflux of prunin from its storage pool, the vacuole, amplifies deliterious effects.
