Abstract:
A survey of potato viruses on farmer's field was conducted in Dschang (1 500 m.a.s.l.), Vekovi (2 100 m.a.s.l.), Ibal-Oku (2 000 m.a.s.l.), and Santa (1 7000 m.a.s.l.) of the western highlands of Cameroon.
In this study, leaflet samples were collected and tested for PVX, PVY, PVS, and PLRV using the DAS-ELISA method.
Results showed that all four viruses exist in the region.
PVS was present at very high levels in most fields.
In Vekovi, up to 94% PVS infection was recorded in the cultivar Tuh-Nso and 12 of the 14 cultivars tested were PVY infected.
No case of PVX was recorded in Ibal-Oku.
Generally, PLRV was rare; though in Dschang an introduced variety, Baraka was 75% infected.
