Abstract:
This paper discusses the yam minisett technology in Nigeria and the factors influencing its adoption among yam farmers.
Sixteen factors were identified.
The major factors include high cost of adoption, lack of storage facilities, and irregular visits by extension staff.
The minor factors are lack of improved varieties of yam, scarcity of farmland, and lack of adequate credit.
The paper concludes that continued adoption and sustenance can be achieved through increased subsidies on yam production inputs supported by a systematic extension intervention.
