Abstract:
Reduced temperature and light conditions for in vitro storage of cocoyam germplasm have been investigated.
The results indicate that cocoyams are not as susceptible to chilling injury as other tropical tuber crops.
The choice of storage temperature was found to be dependent on the stage of development of the explant.
Light conditions was better for storage than the dark.
Abnormalities were not detected in any of the plants derived from cultures which have been stored for one year.
