Abstract:
The first assessment of damage caused by root rot was made in the field within a 20-month old experimental cassava farm located in a humid forest area.
Four improved cassava varieties were planted and harvested after 20 months of growth.
Sound or rotten roots were counted per stand.
Damages in cassava roots vary among varieties but was on the average about 30%. The four pathogens identified as causal agents of cassava root rots were: Armillaria sp., Sphaerostilbe repens, Leptoporus lignosus, and Phaeolus manihotis.
