Abstract:
Results from storage experiments carried out at 0°C during four seasons indicate that manually harvested carrots had a superior keeping quality (after 5 to 7 months storage) compared with mechanically harvested carrots.
No definite conclusion is drawn from the four machines which were compared.
The keeping quality was reduced by increasing mechanical treatment and infection of serious carrot diseases in the fields.
