Abstract:
Trading of fruits of trade is of great significance for almost any EC state since some states are large exporters (Greece, Italy, Spain) and others are very important importers (Germany, Britain, Netherlands). Moreover, taking into account the importance of fruits as a high-value tradable commodities and the drastic increase of the world trade in fruits over the last decade, the study on past and current export patterns is considered timely and important.
Thus, in this work, export patterns of stone fruits (peaches, apricots and cherries), henceforth referred as PACS, are probed and probable trends are assessed utilizing descriptive statistics and employing the zero-axial skew-symmetric matrix (ZSM) procedure.
Results clearly demonstrate the pace of changes in past and current export patterns, the magnitude of year-to-year export variations and the anticipating future trends for the whole European Market.
