Abstract:
The effects of three dosages of irrigation (D1=0.5xD2; D2=ETc; D3=1.5xD2) based on ETc, and a period of fluctuating irrigation (alternating D1 and D3), on cracking susceptibility of cherry tomato fruits were measured using Evita 52 and Gardener's Delight varieties grown under greenhouse conditions.
Radial cracking was more important than concentric and more so in Evita 52 than in Gardener's Delight. The higher the dose the higher the production and fruit weight.
Cracking was also more evident during the fluctuating irrigation period.
