Abstract:
New ornamental plants, including Asclepias, Delphinium, Lisianthus and Trachelium were recently introduced to Israel for cut flower production.
A virus isolated from these plants with severe mosaic, stunting and malformation was identified as a strain of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV). Identification was based on host range, aphid transmissibility, particles size and morphology, serology and double stranded RNA analysis.
