Abstract:
The aim of this research is to increase the yield and quality of the processing tomatoes by assessing the varieties suitable to adapt on the location which have different ecological conditions.
Since 1989, one hundred seventy different varieties have been tested in several ecologies.
The first stage of research is the introduction experiment, realized at two different regions with three replicates.
As a second stage, yield experiments, are realized in five different regions, which consisted of varieties selected from the introduction experiments.
The tomato varieties are compared for their growing behaviour, yield, earliness, percentage of soluble solids (brix), pH, fruit firmness and average fruit weight and suggested to the farmers.
The 1992 results of this work were tabulated and discussed in this report.
