ISHS Acta Horticulturae 374: III International Peach Symposium

RESTRICTION FRAGMENT LENGTH POLYMORPHISM ANALYSIS IN PEACH

Authors:   R. Quarta, M.T. Dettori, I. Verde, P. Laino, S. Sabatini, A. Vantaggi, R. Sciarroni
Abstract:
Molecular markers, such as RFLPs and RAPDs, have been widely applied in several crop plants due to their efficiency in plant breeding, in mapping single genes and in genetic analysis of quantitative traits.

The analysis on fruit tree are still at the beginning and, up to now, no genomic map is available for fruit tree crops.

The final purpose of this work is to build a peach genomic map, mainly to characterize genomic sequences linked to disease resistances.

DNA extraction, Southern blotting and hybridization techniques, adapted to the peach species, are described in this study, as preliminary steps toward the final purpose.
