Abstract:
Most of white flesh nectarine cultivars have low quality fruits, at the moment being yellow flesh nectarines preferred by consumers because of their better taste and fruit size.
With the aim of obtaining new white flesh nectarines of high organoleptic value, a breeding program was carried on at Florence by crossing "Maria Aurelia" and "P.96/15" (both yellow flesh nectarines) with "Snow Queen" (white flesh nectarine). The study of the obtained progenies allowed to improve the knowledge about the genotype of the parents involved.
By testing the F1 seedlings, 33 white flesh nectarines selection, with valuable characteristics, have been singled out and propagated.
