PEROXIDASE ACTIVITY AND IN VITRO ROOTING IN AN ALMOND (PRUNUS DULCIS MILL) GENOTYPE

Author:   E. Caboni
Abstract:
Microcuttings of an almond genotype (selection M51, under evaluation at I.S.F of Rome as peach rootstock) were treated with darkness (12 days) and indolacetic acid (IAA) or indolbutyric acid (IBA) to induce rooting in vitro. M51 rooted in all treatments and showed the best result with IAA + light. Peroxidase activity was determined in the light + IAA and the light - IAA treatments. A peak of activity during the first days after the transplant in the rooting medium was detected with the treatment IAA + light which induced 95% of rooting. Microcuttings without IAA did not show this trend.
