ISHS Acta Horticulturae 372: Symposium on Engineering as a Tool to reduce Pesticide Consumption and Operator Hazards in Horticulture

TESTING PROTECTIVE SUITS AGAINST PESTICIDES

Author:   T. Hinz
Keywords:   pesticide, applicators' protection, protective suits, testing, penetration, standardization
Abstract:
Whilst using pesticides, possible risks for the user cannot be excluded totally. Therefore suitable protective clothing is required and should be tested to ensure the applicator. In addition to singular national procedures like German BBA-3/3, CEN (EUROPEAN COMMITTEE FOR STANDARDIZATION) has developed a 6 grade network of standardization of protective clothing against chemicals including test procedures. With respect to agriculture and horticulture the spray tests prEN 468 and BBA-3/3 will be compared and possible adaptions or modifications will be discussed. Both tests are used at the present time.
