CROP ROTATION EFFECT ON CLUBROOT DISEASE DECREASE

Author:   J. Robak
Abstract:
The effect of various crops on clubroot disease caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae has been investigated in microplots. The decrease of disease was observed when tomato, cucumber, phaseolus bean and buckwheat were grown, as well as when the plots were fallowed. The herbal aromatic perennial crops such as summer savoy, peppermint and garden thyme, controlled disease well, especially when grown for two or three consecutive years. No clubroot disease was observed when catch crops were grown for 3–6 weeks in the spring.
