Authors:   J.L. Mosca, J.F. Durigan
Abstract:
Were used papaya fruits (Carica papaya L.) from the cv Sunrise Solo Line 72/12.

At the first experiment it was tested the coat of stretchable PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride); package in plastic sacks; immersion in wax (“Sta Fresh”), diluted 3:7 associated either with Benomyl (500 ppm). The fruits were kept under environmental conditions (29,5 oC; 68,3 %RH).

At the second and third experiment, it was associated the refrigeration (12 oC; 85 – 90 %RH), with the stretchable PVC film or the plastic sacks.

The treatment with wax and wax plus Benomyl under environmental conditions didn't influence fruits conservation, while the association of plastic sacks package with partial vacuum and refrigeration let to an increasing of their useful lifetime for up to 19 days.
