Abstract:
Brazil is a very rich country of tropical fruits, and most of them are not well known.
The brazilian regions are taken in relation their ecological condition and the origin of the main species.
Some data discussed in this paper are based on the information obtained at the FCAV-UNESP in Jaboticabal, SP, which maintain a germplasm collection in colaboration with Embrapa and at the literature.
There are commented information on flowering, fruit set, production and fruit quality of some main fruits as araçá-boi (Eugenia stipitata), mapati (Pouroma cecropiaefolia), sapota (Matisia cordata), abiu gigante (Pouteria cainito), biribá (Rollinia mucosa), abricó (Mamea americana), uvaia (Eugenia pyriformis), mangaba (Hancornia speciosa), camucamu (Myrciaria dubia), bacuri (Platonia insignis), cambucá (Plinia edulis), cambuci (Paivoea langsdorffii), cagaita (Eugenia dysenterica), umbu (Spondias tuberosa) and cupuaçu (Theobroma grandiflorum).
