ISHS Acta Horticulturae 369: Symposium on Small Scale vegetable production and Horticultural Economics in Developing Countries

EVALUATION OF 30 AVRDC HOT PEPPER LINES

Abstract:
A field experiment was performed to evaluate the performance of 30 introduction genotipes of hot pepper from AVRDC. Horticultural traits and productivity were observed as well as resistance to Fusarium Wilt and Virus Complex Deseases. The experiment was conducted at Munjul Experiment Station (600 m asl.), Bogor, Indonesia, in rainy season 1992. Two replicates of Fully Randomized Block Design, using 5 m2 plot each containing 20 plants.

The result shows that 15 lines has determinate growth habit, 8 lines has good fruit shape, 5 lines has upright fruit, 8 lines show resistance to Fusarium Wilt, 7 lines show resistance to Virus Complex Deseases. A correlation was found between the depth of green color and surface smoothness.

Variability of produnctivity per plant was higher than number fruit/plant and wiehgt/fruit. There was positive corelation between pruductivity/plant and weght/fruit.
