THE EFFECT OF STORAGE METHODS ON THE QUALITY OF SHALLOTS (ALLIUM ASCALONICUM)

Abstract:
Sinaga, R.M. and Nur Hartuti (1991). The effect of storage methods on quality of shallot. A study of storage methods of two varieties (Menteng and Sumenep) of shallot was carried out in Pacet - Bandung. The storage methods were hanging with or without leaves, put on the rack with or without leaves, put on the floor with or without leaves. Observations on the effects on weight loss, water content, VRS and TSS. There were significant differences in all treatments. The VRS and TSS in variety Sumenep were higher than in Menteng, but the water content was higher in Menteng. The weight loss after storage of ten weeks was lower for the hanging methods with leaves.
