Abstract:
A study on growth, development, biochemical changes and maturity indices of okra cv.
OK #2 on the main stem at day 1–12 after full bloom were conducted from March to June.
The results showed that the change in length and fresh weight of the pod, pericarp thickness and seed diameter followed a simple sigmoidal curve.
Soluble solids in the pericarp and seed and fibre in the pericarp increased, while ascorbic acid and calcium pectate decreased as the pod increased in maturity.
Days after full bloom, morphological changes and heat units can be used as maturity indices of OK #2 okra.
