Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted to study the influence of levels of K fertilizer (0, 66 and 132 kg K/ha) and types of mulching (black plastic, aluminum painted and coconut fronds) on growth and yield of chili.
Plant he-ight, yield, fruit size and dry weight of plants increased with increasing K levels of 66 and 132 kg K/ha, respectively.
Highest yield was obtained from plants grown under aluminum painted plastic mulch.
N, P, K and Ca content in leaf tissues, soil temperature and moisture under mulched conditions were higher than those without mulch.
There was a correlation between plant dry weight, plant height and nutrient contents in leaf tissues with soil temperature and moisture.
K fertilizer at 132 kg/ha and mulching suitable in chili production.
