ISHS Acta Horticulturae 368: International Symposium on Postharvest Treatment of Horticultural Crops

THE EFFECT OF TREATMENTS REGULATING FRUIT REMOVAL FORCE ON SHORT-TERM STORAGE OF SOURCHERRY FRUITS

Authors:   G. Kollár, M. Kemenes
Abstract:
Comparing Ethephon treated sour-cherry fruits to untreated ones we have stated that in the case of using treatments the rate of uninjured fruits was lower for fruit harvested both by manual and mechanical means, even at the beginning of the storage period. This favourable difference increases during the first 15 hours of storage. Between the 24th and 36th hour of the storage period the difference increases step by step. Later this phenomenon ceases, and after 48 hours storage there was no significant difference between treated and untreated fruits.
