Abstract:
After the rooting up of pear trees (Pyrus communis) grafted on quince (Cydonia oblonga) from trials of the 'Unidad de Fruticultura' in Zaragoza (Spain), their graft unions have been studied in the past years in order to classify them according to the degree of compatibility.
This paper presents a summary of the results obtained with twenty five pear cultivars grafted on different Quince rootstocks, showing the wide range of compatibility between those species; from the very good ones like 'Passe Crassane' and 'Doyenne du Comice' to the poorest ones like 'El Dorado' or 'Charles Ernest'.
