STUDIES ON INHERITANCE OF SOME AGRONOMICAL CHARACTERS IN PEAR

Authors:   F. Chengquan, P. Fushen, C. Xinye
Keywords:   pear, fruit, character, inheritance
Abstract:
In this paper the genetic trends of ripening season of fruit, fruit shape, skin color, fruit weight, and soluble solids in fruit of 459 hybrid seedling trees, 10 cross combinations were studied. The results indicate: ripening season of fruit, fruit shape, fruit weight, and soluble solids in fruit belong to quantitative characters controlled by the polygene; ripening season of fruit and soluble solids in fruit show a variation which tends to the middle; fruit shape index decreases and the inheritance of fruit shape tends to the parent; the inheritance of fruit weight shows a lightening trend; although skin color belongs to a qualitative character, yet it may be influenced by some subsidiary genes to produce the different genetic effect.
