Abstract:
A three year study was conducted to evaluate the growth responses of paprika pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) to four different plant growth regulators (chlormequat chloride; chlormequat chloride + ethephon; mepiquat chloride; mepiquat chloride + ethephon). The regulators were applied as foliar sprays in the nursery at transplant time.
A reduction in plant height was obtained with chlormequat chloride + ethephon and mepiquat chloride + ethephon.
The same active ingredients promoted root weight and advanced flowering and fruiting.
Total yield was not affected by any treatment.
No effect on fruit quality was observed.
