INFLUENCE OF MULCHING ON EARLINESS AND YIELD OF SOME VEGETABLES GROWN UNDER HIGH TUNNELS

Authors:   A.Y. Pakyürek, K. Abak, N. Sari, H.Y. Güler
Abstract:
The best varieties for high tunnel growing under Harran Plain conditions found to be were Montfavet 63-5 (tomato), Fabina (eggplant) and Demre Sivrisi (pepper).

Mulching increased total yields by about 21 % in tomato, 19 % in pepper and 16 % in eggplant and also increased early yields by about 28 % in tomato, 39 % in pepper and 32 % in eggplant. Yield, earliness, plant growing and fruit size were generally affected positively by the use of mulching as compared to the control.
