THE EFFECT OF BORON ON THE ROOTING OF RHODODENDRON MICROCUTTINGS IN VIVO UNDER HUMIDITY TENT

Author:   A. Šiftar
Abstract:
Rooting of micro cuttings from senescent shoots is less successful as rooting of those from juvenile shoots. The subject of this work was to find out if it is possible to improve rooting of micro cuttings by influencing it with boron and IBA.

The following concentrations of boron from the boron acid were compared: 0,462 mM/kg (5 mg/kg) and 2.312 mM/kg (25 mg/kg) and IBA 24.6 mM/kg (0.5%), 12.3 mM/kg (0.25 %) and 4.9 mM/kg (0.1%).

By the results it appears that cuttings from senescent shoots rooted importantly worse as juvenile. IBA has an importantly stronger effect on rooting like boron has. Differences between boron concentration are small and insignificant.
